Forza Motorsport: Xbox gives glimpse of new game for Series X

The next, eighth entry into the Forza Motorsport franchise was officially announced during today’s Xbox Games Showcase.

Simply named ‘Forza Motorsport’ – not Forza Motorsport 8 – the upcoming racer is being developed by Turn 10 studios, as with the previous titles in the series.

Currently in ‘early development’, as stated by Xbox head Phil Spencer, not much was revealed. For instance, no release date was mentioned. However, a short, graphically impressive trailer did drop amongst others at the preview event.

Despite the lack of information, we do know of some significant technical improvements Motorsport will feature – these can be seen in the trailer. The game will have 4K, 60fps and realistic ray-tracing lighting – this allows the surfaces of cars to reflect off each other and provides for more detailed light and shadows.

What’s more, Motorsport will be coming to Xbox Series X and Windows 10 PC systems (at an undisclosed date, as previously mentioned), but not the Xbox One. It will also be arriving on Xbox’s Game Pass subscription service.

Spencer said: ‘Xbox Series X is bringing [Turn 10] closer to their dream of unprecedented realism.’
