America is known for its love of excess. Everything is larger than life and the performance cars it produces are no exception – they have enormous engines, obnoxious exhaust notes and extravagant movie star styling. While the rest of the world focuses on building economical, sensible, practical vehicles, the US is busy doing burnouts and drag racing.

Due to this, these monstrous motors haven’t just developed an immense following in their home country, but throughout the world. American cars, both old and new, continue to charm enthusiasts everywhere, prompting various car shows celebrating them.

A petrolhead indoors: five ways enthusiasts can stay entertained at home

Here in the UK, the coronavirus pandemic has meant we’ve been in lockdown since March 23rd. Though measures are currently being eased, staying indoors as much as you can is still being advised.

As a car enthusiast, being indoors isn’t particularly ideal. I haven’t been out driving my car anywhere near the amount of times I used to and driving is, as you can imagine, something I very much enjoy. In speaking to three fellow motoring addicts, we all agreed it’s not an amazing time to be a petrolhead.

Motoring journalist Ryan Hirons said: “I guess right now it’s really a bad time to be anything but especially a car enthusiast if your enjoyment relies on driving your car, going to car shows and generally doing stuff with your car.”
